Well folks, it's happened! Carlie, my barefoot, tree climbing, bath hating, critter catching, wild-as-a-buck, little girl, is becoming "girly". There have been times in the past few years that I have wished she were a little more feminine. I mean, the child can burp on demand! And LOVES to showcase that talent to anyone who will stand still long enough! I never imagined that she would get so girly, so quickly! Don't get me wrong, she takes ballet and tap (at mom's strong suggestion). But she is just as content to catch tree frogs off the swing set in the backyard for 2 hours.
Her best friend, Presley, is a "girly" girl. I mean she is a "loves to roll her hair, play in make up, wear dresses and shop for hours" kinda girl. I have always wished Carlie was a little more like that.....or so I thought.
Thanks to Presley and her mom Brandy (both of whom I love dearly), Miss Carlie has decided she wants to be in her school's beauty pageant. Did you hear me? A BEAUTY PAGEANT! Of all the girly things she could've chosen to do, she chose a flippin' beauty pageant!
Let me just say that I have NO idea what to do. Of course I'm going to let her be in it. But I don't even know where to start! I have never been in a pageant in my life! (and I've always considered myself somewhat girly). Do any of you have any suggestions? I'm banking on my friend Tammy, who has done my hair for years, to provide me with much needed insight. She's always up on stuff like this! I am so clueless! And I don't want to let her down because I don't have any idea what I'm doing. I guess I'll start watching "Toddlers and Tiaras" if no one else has any suggestions. I'm kidding. Don't get me started on what I think about that show.
I'm hoping that Carlie does slowly begin to add more girly things to her repetoire. But I don't want her to be so girly that she says "Ewww" about every little gross thing. I also hope she's not such a daredevil that she's always the one saying "hey, watch this!"And I hope eventually her burping the alphabet will fall by the wayside. Then again, I hope she never becomes too much of one thing. So I guess I'm just hoping for well-rounded....

Oh Well! Carlie is quite the versatile girl. I was like that when I was little. I played with both boys and girls. I wish that my mom would have put me in sports sooner. I didn't play anything until I was in high school, so I had to play catch-up to all of the other girls. By the time that I really got good, it was time to graduate. I didn't want to do it in college. I took gymnastics when I was really little and enjoyed it. I hope that Carlie has a great time figuring it all out.
