MTV......Unplugged

Only....not exactly....or at all! But kinda, almost. Maybe.

More like, CTV.......is Unplugged. Our family's television is completely unplugged! For this week anyway.
I honestly gave up tv about 5 years ago....for all things except sporting events. I have never seen an episode of Grey's Anatomy (I know that is an abomination to some of you), or The Bachelorette, or Survivor. I haven't watched a daytime soap since Luke and Laura got married. Oh, I'm kidding. I was a kid when that happened. But I did most certainly watch it. With my mom! I remember when Kelly Ripa joined the cast of All My Children.....my scars run deep people! But I quit watching them years ago. I came to realize that at any given point in the future, I could sit down, watch a week's worth of episodes and be caught right back up to speed. So I quit. Don't worry. I'll catch up on the last 5 years I missed sometime. (before Christ returns....maybe).
Do I ever sit and watch it? Yes. I do. Britt is a lover of television. TiVo has only contributed to his delinquency. Back in the day.....like 8 or 10 years ago.....if you weren't home, and didn't have that VCR set to record....you just missed it. Period. You just had to ask your friends what happened. But noooo. Now, we "season pass" every show that looks even slightly interesting! My husband, being the hunter-gatherer type that he is calls the DVR his "trap". Let that sink in a minute folks.
He says that he can't wait until the kids go to bed, so he can sit down, turn on the tv, and "see what he caught".

Let that little beauty sink in awhile.

What woman can compete with that? You think June Cleaver had to compete with a modern day, in house, trap? Satisfying Ward's primal instincts to hunt, gather and enjoy his bounty? (not that Ward Cleaver strikes me as a hunter, but it's all I got) No!!! That's the answer. No, she didn't! When Beaver and Wally went to bed Ward didn't say "Honey, I can't wait to see what we caught." (so he could stay up the rest of the night and enjoy his prizes). I'm sure Ward looked at her with that "you know what I'm thinking" look, then popped her on the rear as they walked up the stairs! June looked at him disapprovingly of course.
That is like, law, or something.

I digress.

I said all that to say, we are challenging ourselves to a television-less week. Our addiction with that idiot box has gotten out of control. I learned a long time ago that if the tv wasn't on when the kids got home from school they wouldn't turn it on. They would go play! A novel idea! I was the same way. I gave it up, mainly because my two small children hoarded it I mean, it was the biggest thief of my time. I could get involved in the most superficial, mind numbing, plot, then look up and 2 hours had gone by!
So, unplugged are we. Hopefully things will go well. No one will begin to have tremors, or nervous ticks, or headaches.....all of which happen when I'm away from a Diet Coke very long.....but that's another post entirely.

I think we will be fine.
I know we will.
If not soley for these reasons:

The US Open is over
The College World Series (men and women) is over
The NBA Finals, over
Stanley Cup, over
Not football season
All shows Britt watches are on summer hiatus
We have more than a week until the MLB All Star Game
The Red Sox do NOT play the Yankees

And anything else we miss, will be "caught in our trap". Ready for next week's harvesting!

You didn't think, I just randomly scheduled this little Unplugged session, now did you?
