These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray....

right through the very heart of it....New York, New York!!!!!!

Start spreading the news. We're leaving today Monday. We will be spending a week in the city that never sleeps! (But I sure hope I get to!)

We are all really excited. The kids can't wait. They've never been to a city any bigger than Atlanta! And Britt has never been to New York City! Our hotel is right inside the heart of Times Square. So they'll get to see all the "ginormous" signs and lights from our hotel window!
The first time I went to NYC I had just graduated from college.
Even at 23 years old I was awestruck by the sheer size of the architecture! I can only imagine how it will look through the eyes of a 7 and a 9 year old.

Carlie can hardly wait for ONE thing, and ONE thing only. It lives on Fifth Avenue.....

and it's is called......American Girl Place!!!
Seeing those red awnings makes my heart beat just a little faster! I can't wait to take my princess to brunch there. She has her heart set on buying the new Historical Girl, Rebecca.

This doll's story is that she is a young Jewish girl growing up in New York City in 1914. I think it only fitting we buy her in her hometown. Agree?

Cam on the other hand can't wait to see the Mets play. Not that he is a Mets fan. He is just excited about seeing a ball park other than Turner Field!

Say a prayer that the rats here aren't as big as the ones were at the old Shea Stadium!

We are also going to see Wicked on Broadway.

And probably The Lion King too!

We heard so many good reviews, from so many people. We just couldn't decide!

I cannot wait to show my children Central Park, or the views from the Top of the Rock. And you never forget the first time you meet her.......

Such an iconic emblem of the United States.
The government reopened tours to the top of Lady Liberty's crown, but they are sold out until late September. Bummer.
We will also go see Ground Zero and explain to them what happened on that September day in 2001.
September 11, 2001 was also the day everyone received postcards from us saying we were having another baby. Cam was only 20 months old. So obviously, they don't remember it.

And I hope they never know the feeling I had that day.

When I was in NYC in January of 2005 Ground Zero was still just a giant hole in the concrete. Surrounded by fencing, still covered in flowers, candles and photos of lost loved ones. There was a lone cross built out of two steel beams that had been welded together in the center of the destruction. Funny how it takes such utter devastation for us to honor GOD.

It's sure to be a memorable trip. Filled with new sights and experiences. I'm excited to learn about new places and teach my children about the ones I know already. But my biggest concern is...........

How am I going to explain that?????
