She called the Waffle House

Ok. About a year ago my dad thought it was a good idea to give Carlie (our 6 year old) a cell phone. Mind you, she has rarely ever used it except when my parents would call her. It has been missing for about 4 months. However, it appeared this past weekend. Apparently my mom had been driving it around in her SUV for a few months......now you can quit wondering where I get my car keeping habits from!
Anyway.
Last Thursday I got the WORST migraine headache I've ever had! By the wee hours Friday morning I was lying in the bathroom floor, crying, nauseous, and praying for rapture!! I was in the worst pain of my life! Worse than 2 c-sections and 2 kidney stones!!
I had woke Britt up accidentally around 2:30. He was begging me to just go to the hospital. But I was not about to wake someone up that early to watch my kids.
Thank GOD for the makers of Phenergan. At about 4:30 AM I finally fell off to sleep. The next thing I knew my mom was waking me up to put a Fiornal (my migraine meds) in my mouth and it was NOON!
But God love my fabulous husband. He got the kids up and off to school, dressed them, fixed Carlie's hair, packed their lunches, and did it all without waking me up!!! What a love! I am so blessed!!
I slept on and off all day Saturday. Missed Cam's first league AAA baseball game. I could not shake that headache. I was still sick on Sunday, so I missed church. It wasn't until about 3:00PM on Sunday afternoon that I truly felt "over it"! I ended up sleeping about 36 hours with 3 or 4 waking hours spread intermittently throughout the weekend!
I said ALL that to say that I was soooo "out of it" on Saturday night that I barely even remember eating a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich from the Waffle House. After Britt told me all this I began remembering the events in bits and pieces.
Here's what happened...
They decided we were eating Waffle House for dinner Saturday night (you know mama is sick!) Britt calls in our order, then leaves me to attend to our children alone, not in his better judgement. But hey, hindsight is 20/20 right? While he is gone, I am coming in and out of my coma like state. I hear Carlie talking on "her" cell phone. I can tell from her end of the conversation that she's talking to her daddy. No big deal, right? Wrong. As it turns out, Britt used Carlie's phone.....for whatever reason....to call our order into the Waffle House. After Britt had been gone about 10 minutes Little Miss Carlie decided that she needed to know if her daddy had picked up her two eggs scrambled and side of bacon. So, y'all, SHE CALLED THE WAFFLE HOUSE!!!! According to her, when someone answered the phone Carlie asked if she could speak to a manager. (Seriously??? Where does she get this stuff??) Once the manager was on the phone, Carlie proceeded to ask if there was someone named "Britt" there. The manager then asked a man who was paying for his take out order if his name was Britt. He said yes. So the manager said "There is a young lady on the phone for you. A very young lady, I believe.". Britt got on the phone, (a little bit concerned, considering my being sick and the fact that his 6 year old was calling).Very matter-of-factly Carlie said "Daddy, I was just checking to see if you had picked up my food yet? I am really hungry". I am not making this up, folks!Britt confirmed that he had. So Carlie said good bye and hung up!!!
Two days later, I am still in awe that she actually called the Waffle House. It wasn't by accident either. She cracked us up talking about how "she asked for the manager". That girl is giving me gray hair! And she is not even seven years old yet!!!

  1. Considering all of this it makes me wonder what will happen when she is a teenager and has a "real" cellphone. I feel bad for you two then. LOL. I'm glad your evil migraine finally went away. I get migraines too and know how you feel.

  2. You do remember that we live across the street, don't you? You may call at anytime if you need help! I would have gladly watched your sweet babies, so you could go to the hospital! You have rescued mine from being locked out of the house enough times! LOL! Please call next time and go to the hospital. :)
