This time of year is better than Christmas for sports fans. College and NFL football have started. MLB is headed into the playoffs. Golf is winding down in their final championship. Tennis is going strong. Even NASCAR is in their version of "playoffs"!
This weekend was an interesting one!
Firstly, Cam had his first regular season game. His team won! He even made his first tackle!! He also took his first hard lick! A guy put a block on Cam that send him sailing about 3 yards! He got up quickly, so I was ok! He laughed about it after the game. Instead of saying "Mom, did you see me tackle that guy?" he said "Mom, did you see that big ol' boy light me up?" We all cracked up!
Second, I'm not a huge tennis fan. I'll watch it on occasion. This weekend was insane! Serena Williams LOST her cool, to put it mildly. And lost the US Open...or chance at the finals anyway....after accosting the line judge! I've never seen such! Reminds you that those Williams girls are from Compton, CA! She was downright scary!
[Speaking of tirades, did you see Kanye West interrupt Taylor Swift's acceptance speech? He's an idiot!]
A great weekend in college football! Alabama won! Of course they were playing Florida International. Tennessee LOST to UCLA! As if that weren't enough to make my weekend, Notre Dame LOST to Michigan in the Big House!!! Maybe now Lou Holtz will shut up about ND playing for a BCS title this year. Charlie Weis should be fired. Makes you wonder who he has blackmail pictures of! He is one of the highest paid coaches in college football, but his current record is 30-22 at ND. Buncha losers. I like them about as much as Tennessee....if you haven't picked up on that! Then USC beat The Ohio State University at The Horseshoe! Typically, I like neither of those teams. I was pulling for OSU because USC's freshman QB, Matt Barkley, was running his mouth last week about "bring it on" to the OSU fans. But I have to admit. Barkley made a believer out of me on the final drive. He took USC 95 yards down the field in the final minutes to score the go-ahead TD! That kid appears to be the real deal!
Yesterday kicked off our family's fantasy football season! Yes, even my 7 year old daughter has a fantasy team! She played her daddy....and is losing right now.....thanks to Drew Brees SIX touchdown passes yesterday! But Carlie owns the Giants defense, and that kept her in the game! I'm playing Cam this week....and winning, but he and I each have several players playing tonight in MNF! Let's hope my Phillip Rivers throws 6 TDs too! But Cam owns the Chargers defense, so I hope San Diego allows quite a few points too!
Like a said.....better than Christmas!
In other news, we are all on the mend. Carlie and I are still coughing. And I lost my voice AGAIN! But for the most part we are over our "crud". I'm just hoping we stay well!! So many children at their school have the flu! We certainly don't need that!
